'Winter Solstice' excerpts from 'Spirit Talk'

Excerpts from 'Spirit Talk':

Winter Solstice: By the calendar of the natural world, the winter solstice marks the ingress into the profound precincts of the deep Mother Earth Womb, the original confirmation point of all seed soul, sprout, and rootlet growth. The days and nights of silent contemplation and Quiet Time observances have served to quiet the mind and prepare the body, much as the field is prepared to receive the new seed. Winter means that much of the northern hemi-turtle shell of this hemisphere is blanketed by the purifying powers of Snow Woman’s gifts and freezes … We live always within the Sacred Rainbow Hoop. This hoop of life is a threshold of all the moments of the eternal present. The eternal present we now find ourselves within and contemplating is the first of the White Plains of Spirit, others will follow in succeeding seasons, each with basically the same purifying intent. The winter solstice, embedded within the purifying power of the cold, cloaked with the white plain of purity, located in and upon the wisdom body of the original gift, represents the core wisdom quality of winter … Conscious arrival and acquaintance with the Winter threshold of the Sacred Medicine Wheel Hoop of Life is a primal renewal experience, made ceremony. If this is a new concept to you, trust that you have entered into one of the most beautiful and comprehensive systems in this galaxy and beyond for containing, supporting, and interpreting life in a sacred way. Best wishes upon this journey. The winter solstice is a naturally occurring station within the year and, as such, has accrued a long history. The holy days, holidays, are usually grounded in natural phenomena that grew out of the Creative Mind and manifested in the first, most beautiful and enduring gifts of our Mother Earth, our Father Sky-Sun and the myriad of clustering entities we call the powers and fixtures of the natural world … This then, is the sacred charge: to bring oneself forward in all possible wholeness, mindfulness, and beauty, and to conceive of and design ceremonies of personal meaning, fulfilling the sacred charge to be happy and enjoy life. This winter solstice is our time to unite with the natural world. Take these long nights to rest, tell stories, celebrate, and dream deeply of life before the stronger suns call us forward once again to grow and to labor. But for now, enter into and be one with the conceptual Return of the Light.

From the Hearth and Heart of Wind/IK

Greetings Dear Ones,
Jaguar Woman has invited me to gather some thoughts from the Bodewadmin (Blessing) Longhouse. And so, I speak.

Her return from the south, the place of heart, bears a gift of love to the north, the place of Spirit, wisdom. She walks the Good Red Road, south to north, north to south. This journey on the Medicine Wheel is rich in wisdom and love. Many are and will be the gifts which will manifest from this journey, gifts made possible by many of you.

I thank you for this opportunity and In that Spirit, The Bodewadmin Longhouse is thinking on some of these things.

Winter Vision Quest Cave
In this season, many inner compasses will begin turning toward seeking, creating and crawling into the blessed peace of the seasonal vision quest cave.

Inside, a deep breast of the resting Mother Earth, is where the Medicine Wheel slowly turns in an earthly circumambulation of all seed dreams, penetrated by fiery shafts of our Father Sky Sun into the mind, heart, body and Spirit of individual inner pools of quiet.

Here, ones bones can and may be deeply CLEANED: healed and loosened from the labors, challenges, cares, aspirations and fulfillments of the previous season, then slowly put back together as an honoring dream dance echo of all the ancestral journeys made before ours and those yet to come.
The womb quest awaits. Draw aside a veil of the great mystery, breathe your name, make an offering and ask permission to replicate and renew the journey that all beings have made, do make and will make..from earth to sky.. breath into clay.. so we are made and so we reenact the sacred moves, as we see them.

For, we are the new myth makers. Many dreams and messages have been brought forward, by ourselves and others…accept these offerings, feast upon the tears of bitterness and gratitude from which they were born and prepare to embark upon making the new myths and creation stories…OUR new myths drawn from a place where our sacred beingness meets with and is fused with mysterious elements emanating from an indivisible and indestructible connection with divine consciousness and personal discernment.

This is how we stay alive and keep the world alive. This then, is our Sacred Charge. Where we will feel most alive and know who we are.

Many are the ways of personal, creative ceremony.. Now, it is time to smudge off, pray for the highest good for all concerned and ask that bravery, wisdom, willingness and endurance walk with us.

Know that one may emerge, or come and go, from the cave at any time and trust that commitments and responsibilities in the outside world reside on physical and mental arms of the Medicine Wheel and will not suffer from ‘medicine’ attention directed elsewhere.

When ones visit to the cave is accomplished there will be a natural and unremarkable reunification of elements. The shifts and gifts will be ours for life. Do not speak of these things too soon but hold them close to mature and unfold. Journaling is a creative thing to do as many of the realizations, visitations or visions will be of an ephemeral nature. Do not censor or process the writing, that can be done later.

May we be eternally rich in Spirit, have good minds and strong bodies. May we know no fear and may we have hearts filled with love..now and forever more.

AHO!

Autumnal Equinox, September 22, 2018

Greetings Kin,
A fire will be Kin-dled. Bring your emptiness and fullness of the season in quietness and peacefulness into the reception chamber of all matter to observe and sit together, with the season.

Offer what you have or what spirit suggests … these breath offerings are designed to feed and nourish all sentient and insentient beings, including ourselves, through intent. It is through these things, thoughts, and actions we come to more deeply know ourselves and nourish the intent of this unified ‘knowing’ of ourselves within the structure of the Medicine Wheel Teachings.

Like minded community furthers each person’s opportunity to both see clearly and to be seen clearly, a deeply held blessing of knowingness that can further happiness and calm and to develop a growing sense of compassionate detachment and loving kindness in the context of the seasons and the natural world ... these first, most beautiful and lasting gifts from the Creator, are for us and all beings to live upon and within, all days, all ways, in balance and harmony. AHO!

Prepare to enter three circles of spirit energy, beginning now, as you approach the ceremonial grounds, from your personal central tree of integrity. We are the new myth makers, done from where we sit, stand or lay, be we a physical part of this circle or not. Let us be increasingly alert and aware of the emerging myths ... stories. Their times to be told come near with the winter quiet. The new creation stories ... they arise from out of the seeds of this harvest season, lying dormant for the blessing of their telling, remembering and telling of the fires that will make them ready for the new growth. This is one of the medicines of this season that make us ready for winter sun and winter rest ... as does our mother, the earth (sekmekwe) and our father the sky sun (kisus).

Through these ways we reconnect with the original instructions and link them where desirable and recognized, with the current stories and emerging myths/medicines by which we can know ourselves and live … feeling like we have a right to be here and to live. These ceremonies then assume a grounding and a radiance that can and does contribute to the continuance of all life, just by virtue of ours and others positive beingness. These then, are some of the sacred charges and as such, belong with the original instructions. Without them we are wanderers ... and to these ones, we would extend a helping hand of in-spirit … inspiration to those who would be seeking or in need, through vibration or physical service.

Bama mine, until we see one another again,
Wabaksekwe (Dawn Woman)

GLOBAL BURNER: Sacred Fire Ceremonies -- Sep 1 -- The Element of Fire

GLOBAL BURNER: Sacred Fire Ceremonies -- Sep 1 -- The Element of Fire
Contributed by Jaguar Woman

Fire holds the power of transmutation, able to change the form and structure of other Elements. Honoring Fire as a Sacred Element through which we can purify and release those things that no longer serve. On the traditional Medicine Wheel path we bring our prayers of tobacco to send up the smoke of our prayers. We offer blessings to honor and feed it. Traditional gifts are chocolate or raw liver. What we bring to the fire is released into the Hands of the Creator. We feed the Fires of Creation.

There are many traditional ways of Sacred Fire Ceremony. The Maya and Native American tradition lay a circle of cornmeal and mark the 4 directions with the cross made of tobacco. The Mayan incorporate candles, sugar, flowers, and consecrate the Earth with tequila. Prayers are offered to the 4 directions, for the Inspiration of the East, the Relationships of the South, the Unknown Journey of the West, and the Wisdom of the North.

The inside rim is painted blue for the circle of spirit.
The drum head is anchored by four principle cords which represent the four directions

Global Burner Days by Jaguar Woman

Contribution by Jaguar Woman about Global Burner Days:
Greetings Kin,

Some questions have been raised about Global Burner days, so I wanted to offer some insight for discernment from the Intentions that were held by the Maya when they held fire ceremonies. All the Holy Celebration days were established with a specific Intention - each has its own. The "Global Burner" Fire Ceremonies are different - all held for the same purpose and intention (to burn off karma and restore harmony in relationships).

There are only 4 Global Burners in the Tzolk'in round. They occur every 65 days, one in each season of the 260 days. There is not a Global Burner for every month of the Gregorian calendar, and there is no Global Burner in July 2018. FYI - we each have our own Personal Burners too, 4 of them. Your own Mayan birthday is a personal burner. The rest of your own personal burners are 65 days apart and will show up on the same Tone number as your birthday (you could count them out on the Tzolk'in calendar.

Below are the dates and Kin of the next 4 Global Burners:
4 Sun/Ahau, (September 1, 2018)
4 Serpent/CHICCHAN (November 5, 2018)
4 Dog/OC, (January 1, 2019)
4 Eagle/MEN, (March 15, 2019)

The next Holy Day celebrated by the Maya with a fire ceremony:

For consideration, if someone was wanting to schedule a fire ceremony in July, 8 Serpent/CHICCHAN may be one of the most powerful days for it in the Tzolk'in round. However, NOT AS A BURNER. The Intention for fire on this day is ALREADY RESERVED as a Celebration of CHICCHAN (Serpentine Day).

The Whole Power available to draw on 8 Chicchan would be lost in a fire for a personal purpose of burning our own residual energy. It holds far greater power in the Intention that's been held by the Maya on this KIN for so many years. You might think of it energetically, as using a day that was meant for bringing appreciation and and offering to Fire ... but instead, using it as a day to bring all your prayer requests for things you want to get rid of. :)  A Higher, more Powerful Intention for that celebration is already in place.

July 28, 8 Serpent/CHICCHAN, Serpentine Day, is reserved by the Maya to celebrate the Gifts of Knowing and Consciousness, Chicchan Power. The fires of 8 CHICCHAN are a Sacred Exchange of Human Honoring CHICCHAN, the Force of Life. It's celebrated as a ceremony that Honors Fire itself.

Considering a July date for a fire held specifically for the purpose to burn off residual energy/karma, it would be better to choose any other day that resides under a Red Day Sign of the East, holding the Element of Fire ... that is not already observed by a fire of another Intention.

8 Serpent/CHICCHAN - might be one of the most Powerful Fire Days on the Tzolk'in. So definitely a day for fire, but solely for the purpose of Honoring Chicchan ... it's Chicchan's day. Chicchan in Tone 8 resides in its zenith position. A fire on this day would be powerful as adding to the many prayers and fires that have been celebrated all under that same intention.

I love you, in lak'ech, Jaguar Woman

Today is a Universal Burn Day

Greetings,
As each person has a personal Mayan Calendar burn day according to birth date so there are four quarterly Universal dates and today, 4 Oc, dog, is one of those.

The burn days are designated as sacred opportunities by which to purify and release personal and societal concerns and burdens that may have accumulated in the last quarter and before.

Make an offering of tobacco to the fire being sometime in the burn. Building, tending and feeding fires of this sort contribute to cleansing the community. Light a candle, strike a match or just think it, if you are not able to physically build a fire.

This is good personal and collective ceremony to observe as this new season of summer is initiated.

Blessings,
Dawn Woman

It is a good day ... mno gishget!

Bozho jayek, greetings … everyone of the immediate and extended Circle of Life …
We see the welcoming corn people stand in the spring showers and winds of the Bemadzewin (Longhouse) ... peony shares are in the ground, thank you Anna ...while arugula, chard and collards are listening to the thunder beings speak them alive. Two new sassafras trees are spreading their roots in the gardens ... the strawberries are blooming. The green beings and our inner green beings initiate another growing season in beauty and harmony! We have sat in and completed another winter of the seed setting ceremonies ... and prepare to begin anew! AHO!
Earth Day (April 22) also marks the first day of summer by the natural calendar so, pull on the gloves and work boots for tending the new things. Blessing posts will be renewed, painted and set in the four directions. Plant a special plant or seed of choice. Rachel's ashwaganda seeds are standing by for warmer weather.

Thank you, Carol, for the chicken and noodle dish and your lavender/rose water cloud cookies. The cheese round with chutney relish and Chef Nobu salad/dressing was fresh and tasty. Thank you Olmos/Brewer clan for yet another glorious fruit tart to mark and celebrate our collective birthdays into another MC 260 day human gestational creation cycle ... thank you, Debra for the daily jaguarspirit.com contributions ... kiche migwech, you old orphan Martin Prechtel for SECRETS OF THE TALKING JAGUAR and other titles (recommended reading).

Through these things and many others, known and unknown, spoken and unspoken … we, and our seeds of peaceful intention, are 'breathed alive' once again!

Many thanks to all ... for your enduring beauty and breathed contributions to life that life might truly be lived 'in a good way', now and forever more.

The new sun comes …
