Dogwood Winter

Greetings from the Redbud Winter,

We are now passing quickly through Dogwood Winter and approaching the last Little Winter- Blackberry Winter..and then it will be time to plant the summer gardens....a metaphor for each of us to ponder, to select seed and to set mindful intention in place for this new and potent growth season. This last weekend many seeds were offered for examination and consideration. It was a smorgasbord of ancient wisdom, gratitude, present realizations and extended thoughts and prayers for the goodness of ALL LIFE on this: our BEAUTIFUL MOTHER EARTH AND SPLENDID FATHER SKY SUN.

The Flint Hills Wisdom Keepers Gathering in Council Grove, KS will be covered as soon as I receive a photograph of the Grandmothers taken by Nathan Blindman of Pine Ridge, SD, who accompanied his mother, elder Unci Rita. They presented concerns with the imminent sale of the Wounded Knee Massacre grounds. David Yarrow presented a broad program on what I would call: the sacred geometry of earth wisdom ... His website (dyarrow.org) is amazing. Gardeners and farmers take note!

There were five elders present and in all it was a wonderful gathering with much knowledge and wisdom, honoring and gifting, stories, much feasting and laughter. Old friends caught up and laughed again together while many new friends and relatives were made. Sweat Lodge opportunities were offered and The Grandfather Sacred Fire was tended 24 hours a day until the Circle was completed for another year.
